I wrote this little tidbit one day after listening ti a song. Enjoy it.

She was an idiot.
A crazy, mad, genius idiot.
Luna Calstran stood atop the tallest building in Kingsley’s Hollow. Her knee-length blonde hair was whipping about in the fierce wind. She gripped the support rail of the observatory floor, then turned quickly, and reached up to grip the roof of the building, hauling herself up. Nearly losing her balance in the freezing Colorado wind, Luna staggered and grabbed the building’s antenna.
A beam of light circled through the town, the source right between her feet. Luna pondered the idiotic reason why a person would build a lighthouse in the center of Colorado. It could be for planes to see. It didn’t mater to Luna anymore.
Luna closed her eyes. No one will know. No one. She opened her pale green eyes. The lights were gorgeous; Kingsley’s Hollow wasn’t much, but it sure was pretty at night. The various shops and restaurants lit up with pretty pastel and neon colors, almost making their own aurora borealis.
Luna wasn’t really a popular girl. She lived alone. She was in her third year of college, and she had two sisters and a brother, plus parents back home. She was going to leave it all behind. She was trying to have a book published. She’d never see it make the bestsellers list.
A soft twittering invaded Luna’s ears. She looked up, to see a small pale blue bird sitting firmly atop the antenna. She smiled. “Lucy, what are you doing? I set you free.”
The bird tittered at her and fluttered down to her head. Luna smiled again. Only Lucy will know. Luna let go of the antenna. The lights are too bright to see one girl jump.
She took a step forward. No regrets. No one will remember her. Even her family will forget.
She stood at the edge of the roof. She took Lucy off of her head. She let the bird fly into the wind. She raised her right foot. Her balance was shattered. She fell like a rock over the edge of the room.
Luna’s heartbeat accelerated as she felt herself in freefall. She twisted in the air and looked up at the sky. She saw the lighthouse’s beacon swivel over her. She smiled.
Luna’s body hit the ground. No one will notice…
